I develop these apps privately as an individual. If you have any question about privacy, write to the address above.
What the apps do with your data
None of the apps sends your content to me or to any third party. Data is processed only on your device. Every app can optionally synchronise its data between your devices through your own iCloud account.
Snippets (Schnipsel) — macOS and iOS
Stores the text snippets you create on your device and, if you turn on iCloud sync, in your iCloud account.
YearView — macOS
Reads events from the calendars on your Mac (with your permission) to display them. Calendar data is only displayed; it is not copied elsewhere or transmitted.
KeyMinder — macOS
Uses the macOS Accessibility permission to read the menus and keyboard shortcuts of the app currently in front. This information is shown to you and not stored or transmitted.
Anniversaries — iOS
Reads birthdays and other dates from your Contacts (with your permission) and writes them as events into a dedicated calendar on your device (with your permission). Contact data never leaves the Contacts and Calendar apps except through your own iCloud sync.
iCloud
iCloud sync is optional. If you enable it for an app, or for Contacts and Calendars, Apple synchronises that data between your devices. That processing is carried out by Apple under your own agreement with Apple and Apple’s privacy policy. I have no access to your iCloud account or its contents.
Update checks and this website
The version of KeyMinder distributed outside the App Store checks for new versions by downloading an update feed from keyminder.app. When this website or the update feed is accessed, the web server necessarily receives technical data such as your IP address, the time of the request, the requested file, and the browser or app version. This data is used only to deliver the file and to keep the server secure, and is not combined with other data.
I operate the web server myself; it is hosted by Hetzner in Germany.
You can switch off automatic update checks in KeyMinder’s settings. The other apps have no update mechanism of their own. Apps installed from the App Store are updated by Apple; I receive no data from that.
Feedback, crash reports and diagnostic logs
I only receive the following if you actively decide to share it:
TestFlight
If you test a beta version through Apple’s TestFlight, Apple shares with me the information described in Apple’s TestFlight terms, such as the feedback, screenshots and crash reports you choose to submit.
Crash reports via Apple
If you have agreed on your device to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide me with anonymised crash reports and usage statistics. You can change this in your device’s privacy settings.
Email and diagnostic logs
If you email me — optionally attaching a diagnostic log exported from an app — I receive your email address, your message and the attached file.
I use this information only to answer you and to fix problems in the apps. I do not share it with anyone. The legal basis is your consent in sending it, and my legitimate interest in improving the apps.
Your rights
Under Swiss data protection law and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:
- request information about the personal data I hold about you,
- have it corrected or deleted,
- restrict or object to its processing, and receive it in a portable format,
- withdraw your consent at any time, with effect for the future.
Since the apps themselves collect nothing, this concerns only information you have sent me. Contact me at the address above. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority — in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU the authority of your country of residence.
Children
The apps do not collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If an app starts to process data differently, I will update this page before the change is released. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
