macOS menu bar app
Sticky notes,
always one hotkey away.
Snippets keeps short bits of text — commands, TODOs, addresses, anything you'd jot on a sticky note — each in its own small floating window.
Everything a sticky note needs, nothing it doesn't
One hotkey, anywhere
⌃⌥S by default, remappable in Settings. Brings every open snippet forward, or shows the list if none are open.
Six classic colors
Yellow, blue, green, pink, purple, gray — color-code snippets at a glance, Stickies-style.
A window of its own
Every snippet floats independently, remembers its position and size, and can be pinned always-on-top.
Fast list panel
Live search, Tab/arrow-key navigation, and ⌘1–9 to jump straight to a snippet.
Copy, share, save
A toolbar on every window: copy to the clipboard, the macOS share sheet, or save as a .txt file.
Menu bar only, by default
Runs as a background accessory app. "Show in Dock" can be switched on anytime, no restart needed.
English & Deutsch
Fully localized in both languages, with more planned.
How it works
-
Press the hotkey
Or click the menu bar icon. The list panel appears instantly, Spotlight-style.
-
Search or create
Type to filter, or hit + for a blank snippet. Tab and arrow keys move the selection.
-
It opens in its own window
Edit, copy, share, or pin it in front. Close it and reopen from the list anytime.
Under the hood
Snippets is a native SwiftUI + AppKit app for macOS 14 and later. Its data model lives in SnippetKit, a platform-neutral Swift package with no AppKit/UIKit dependency, kept separate so a future iOS companion app can share it without a migration. The full source (with git history) is available under the GPLv3.
